- Photos you upload: The App processes cat images you capture or upload so our AI can identify the breed. Photos are transmitted securely, analysed in real time, and automatically deleted once the results are returned. They are not used to train our model without your explicit consent.
- App usage data: We collect anonymised metrics such as the types of features used, app version, device model, and diagnostic logs to improve performance and stability.
- Subscription and transaction data: Apple provides us with limited purchase information (for example, the type of subscription and renewal status) so we can manage your access to premium features.
- Support communications: If you email us or contact support, we store the details you provide so we can respond effectively.
How we use your information
We process personal information for the following purposes:
- Deliver and maintain the App, including breed identification, saved results, and subscription management.
- Provide customer support, respond to inquiries, and troubleshoot issues.
- Monitor usage trends, protect against fraud or misuse, and keep the App secure.

Legal bases for processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR to process your personal data: (i) performance of a contract to provide the App; (ii) legitimate interests in securing and improving our services; and (iii) compliance with legal obligations.
When we share data
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted third parties that help us operate the App:
- Apple: Handles App Store transactions, payments, and subscription renewals.
- Cloud infrastructure and analytics partners: Enable secure processing of uploaded photos and provide anonymised usage insights so we can improve the App.
- Professional advisors and legal authorities: Only when required by law or necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Data retention
Uploaded photos are automatically deleted after the identification is complete. Subscription and transaction records are retained as long as required for accounting and compliance purposes. Support communications are stored only as long as needed to address your request. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. This includes encrypted transport (HTTPS) for photo uploads, access controls, auditing, and continuous monitoring of our infrastructure. While no system is completely secure, we work hard to keep your data safe.
International transfers
Our servers may be located in countries outside of where you live. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on lawful mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards to protect your rights.
Children’s privacy
Cat Breed Scanner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
